Cryochamber

Cryotherapy, also known as cold therapy, is a treatment where your body is exposed to extremely cold temperatures for a few minutes. Don't worry, it's not as icy as it sounds! You're in a controlled environment, and the benefits can be quite "cool." With Cryotherapy, you can harness the benefits of extreme cold exposure to support fitness recovery. This treatment involves exposing the body to cold temperatures for short periods to promote various health benefits including recovery from workouts, muscle relief, mental wellness and enhanced athletic performance.

Cryo Details

What is Cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy is a health and wellness modality where you actively immerse yourself to cold temperatures for a short amount of time to initiate thermogenesis, the body's natural process of generating heat to stay warm. During cryotherapy, blood vessels contract, heart rate adjusts, and cells produce heat. While prolonged exposure to extreme cold can be harmful, brief exposure to significant cold has numerous health benefits.

What are the health benefits?

Cryotherapy has been shown to reduce inflammation, increase energy, provide pain relief, speed up muscle recovery, improve sleep, support skin rejuvenation, boost metabolism, improve circulation and cardiovascular health, regulate mood, and reduce stress.

Are there any contraindications?

While cryotherapy is generally safe, there are some contraindications to consider, such as having uncontrolled hypertension, heart conditions, circulatory disorders, cold allergies, Raynaud disease, being pregnant or having open wounds. It's essential to consult with a healthcare professional before starting cryotherapy.

How can I get the most out of my experience?

There are lots of ways to support your mind, body, and health during cold-exposure therapy. Pause. Notice. Choose. - The Whole Health Mantra is an amazing tool, combined with breathwork, to support your positive cryo experience. Join one of the Cryotherapy information sessions to ask questions and learn ways to get the most out of your Cryochamber experience.

How cold does it get?

Cryotherapy chambers typically use liquid nitrogen to cool the air inside the chamber, reaching temperatures between -140°F to -175°F (-96°C to -115°C). The extreme cold triggers the body's natural responses and provides therapeutic benefits. Although the temperature range is quite extreme, we find that most everyone can tolerate the temperatures fine!

What do I wear?

For a comfortable and safe Cryo experience, members are required to wear tank top and shorts and cover their feet, hands, ears, nose and mouth during their session. We recommend that you bring your own coverings. However, Cryo kits are conveniently available for purchase at the Rest & Recharge desk.

How long do I stay in?

Cryotherapy sessions typically last between 2 to 3.5 minutes. The duration will vary based on personal preference, experience, goals, and tolerance to the cold.

How frequently should I use it?

The frequency of cryotherapy sessions depends on individual goals and tolerance levels. It's generally recommended to start with 2-3 sessions per week, but safe to do it every day. Adjust based on how your body responds.

Should I do it before or after working out?

Both options are valid, and it depends on personal preference and fitness goals. Some people prefer to use cryotherapy before a workout to increase energy, enhance performance, and reduce muscle soreness. Others find it more beneficial after a workout to aid in recovery and reduce inflammation. Experimenting with both approaches can help determine what works best for you.

How long will it take to warm back up?

The time it takes to warm back up varies from person to person but typically ranges from a few minutes to around 10-15 minutes. Your body will warm up naturally after exiting the cryotherapy chamber. Moving around, walking, and engaging in light physical activity can help expedite the process.

What is the cancellation policy?

To reschedule or receive a refund, please give at least 24 hours’ notice for appointment changes or cancellations.  Failure to cancel or show up will result in the redemption of your session.  Thank you for your cooperation.

What are the age restrictions?

This service is for those that are 18 and up.

Reiki is a unique healing method from Japan. It is derived from two words: "rei," signifying the universe, and "ki," representing life energy. Practitioners of Reiki utilize an approach known as palm healing or hands-on healing. Their aim is to channel energy in a way that stimulates the individual's innate healing capabilities. This gentle method seeks to harmonize the body's energy, fostering an environment for wellness and balance.
