At Walmart, we want every associate and customer to feel safe and welcome! You play a big role in maintaining our safe environment free of harassment, violence, and threats.
We have many resources to support a safe workplace. In this course, you will learn about how to promote a safe workplace, and you will complete an activity on our Five Minute Integrity Focus. This course will help you start the discussion with your team and give you resources to stay on track.
The foundation of our culture is a commitment to operating with integrity, and we believe in treating each other with respect, including associates, suppliers, and customers.
We want to provide a working environment free of inappropriate conduct including obscene, profane, gross, violent, discriminatory, bullying, or similarly offensive language, gestures, or conduct. Walmart will not tolerate such conduct.
Harassment is conduct that inappropriately or unreasonably interferes with work performance, diminishes the dignity of any person, or creates an intimidating, hostile, or otherwise offensive work environment based on an individual’s legally protected status. Verbal, visual, or physical conduct of a sexual nature is not acceptable in the workplace and may be determined to be sexual harassment. Here are some examples:
- Sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, sexually explicit language, off-color jokes, or remarks about a person’s body or sexual activities
- Displaying sexually suggestive pictures or objects, suggestive looks, leering, or suggestive communication in any form
- Inappropriate touching, both welcome and unwelcome
We also prohibit other forms of harassment based on an individual’s legally protected status including:
- Slurs or negative stereotyping
- Verbal kidding, teasing, or joking
- Intimidating acts like bullying or threatening
- Any other conduct that shows hostility toward, disrespect for, or mistreatment of an individual based on the individual’s legally protected status
We prohibit any form of violence or threat of violence affecting the workplace, other associates, or our customers. Here are some examples included in that policy:
- Behavior that harms, damages, injures, harasses, intimidates, bullies, threatens, stalks, taunts, forces, coerces, restrains, or confines another person
- Behavior that reasonably causes another person to fear for his/her health or safety
- Behavior that intentionally harms or damages property

We have a Five Minute Integrity Focus that features different topics monthly. Try to review it on a monthly basis because it has great tips on things you might not know about, and new tips are introduced each month. For example, gift card fraud is a big problem, and sometimes our customers are victims. One of our monthly topics focuses on easy tips to spot and report gift card fraud.
