5 Easy Ways Organizations Can Use Walmart Spark Good to Engage Donors and Volunteers
Making giving easier
As humans, it's our shared responsibility to leave the world better than we found it. When we come together and work toward that goal, we can achieve amazing things. That's why we created Walmart Spark Good: to provide a force multiplier for local organizations making a difference for their communities.
When you sign up for a Spark Good account on Walmart.com, you'll gain access to programs that make it easier for people in your communities to contribute to your work. Local grants, online charitable registries and customer round up, engaging with Walmart and Sam’s Club associate volunteers—Spark Good puts it all within reach. Here's how Walmart Spark Good can help your work.
How Walmart Spark Good supports local organizations
1. Round up
Here’s a question: can you remember the last time you bought something that cost an exact dollar amount, with no change left over? Probably not. When a customer makes a $19.88 purchase, that 12 cents in change to round up to $20 can be put to use for good. When many small donations add up, they can make a huge difference for an organization.
Spark Good Round Up aims to do just that. It allows customers on Walmart.com to round their purchases up to the nearest dollar and donate that change to a nonprofit or school. When your organization signs up for Spark Good Round Up, its name will appear for customers to select at Walmart.com/sparkgood. Once selected, customers can support your organization each time they shop via Walmart.com or the Walmart app.
2. Registry
Whether you're leading a food bank, an animal shelter or a neighborhood clean-up, you're going to need tools and supplies to keep the work running smoothly. Sometimes, having supporters buy these supplies and donate them directly is more effective than receiving cash donations. But how do you effectively communicate your needs to your supporters?
That’s where Spark Good Registry comes in. You can curate a list of necessary supplies on Walmart.com that you can share with your supporters. It can include anything available to purchase on Walmart.com, and customers can purchase and ship items directly to you.
3. Space tool
Holding special events is a great way to raise funds for your organization, but finding a venue can be challenging or cost-prohibitive.
The Spark Good Space Tool lets eligible organizations request space in front of a Walmart store for your event. If your request is approved, you can hold bake sales, product drives and other fundraisers in a highly trafficked part of your community.
4. Local grants
Organizations need to explore as many funding avenues as they can to keep their missions on track.
Spark Good Local Grants provide grants from Walmart stores, Sam’s Clubs and distribution Centers in your community. Organizations can submit applications during each of the application periods. Grant amounts range from $250 to $5,000 each, which can make a world of difference for some organizations.
5. Associate giving and volunteerism
At Walmart, we want our associates to feel empowered to do their part for their communities. If they put in the time to support their favorite organization, we aim to match that energy.
Through Spark Good Associate Volunteerism, for every hour an associate volunteers with an eligible organization, that organization can receive a Spark Good matching grant when associates log their volunteer hours. Walmart also encourages associate giving through our Spark Good Associate Giving program, and occasionally match associate donations to eligible organizations.
