Strategy Matters: Setting Up Your Campaign for a Big Win!

Equip your office and your team with the right technology to get work done

At Walmart Business, we understand that developing a comprehensive strategy document to set objectives and goals is both necessary and time-consuming. To help streamline the process, we’ve created the Walmart Business Campaign Strategy Guide. It gives you the two pages you need to start: a Campaign Strategy Checklist and a Campaign Brief Template.

The Campaign Strategy Checklist begins by helping you take a 30,000-foot view of your goals. Specify what part of the funnel you are activating (i.e., awareness, acquisition, conversion or retention), the campaign’s purpose or theme and why your target audiences should care.

Next, you’ll start diving into the details, including identifying your specific target audiences (e.g., new customers, existing customers, partners, prospective employees, etc.). Decide what action you want them to take, such as scheduling a product demonstration, purchasing a new product, applying for a job opening or requesting specific pieces of content marketing collateral. You’ll also look ahead to how to measure your success against your goals both during and after the campaign ends.

If you think of the Campaign Strategy Checklist as a football team coach’s master gameplan, the Campaign Brief Template represents the X’s and O’s. Here, you’ll set the budget and funding source, determine whether you’ll need to work with any external resources and identify what channels to activate, such as social media platforms, email blasts, in-store campaigns, influencer marketing and proactive media outreach.

As you're going through worksheets, don't rush it. Really think about your answers and double-check everything. Remember, the effort you put into your strategy today is directly tied to the success of your campaign.
