Walmart Business Was Created to Help Small Businesses: A Conversation at Adobe Summit
Walmart Business has a simple growth strategy: “Lean in and listen first.”
At the Adobe Summit 2024, business leaders gathered to share their insights about the world of e-commerce. Torarie Durden, head of marketing at Walmart Business, was one of them. Over the past two years, Walmart Business has grown from a brand-new venture into a huge success story for its parent company. According to Durden, that happened in part because his team takes customer feedback seriously.
“Walmart Business was built around the notion of listening very intently to our customers,” he said. “And when we listened, they told us a couple of things. They still wanted to save money. They definitely wanted to stay in control. And they also wanted to free up capacity to help grow their businesses.”
Durden explained that for small business owners and entrepreneurs, Walmart was already a known quantity. There are Walmarts throughout the United States and they sell everything from classroom necessities to office supplies. Small business owners know they can get goods shipped from Walmart.com or pick them up at nearby stores. They know and trust Walmart.
However, Durden wanted Walmart Business to be more than just an enterprise-level storefront. He also wanted the company to provide business owners with the tools they needed to thrive. As examples, Durden pointed to spending analysis in standard Walmart Business accounts and free shipping options in Walmart Business+ memberships.
“We’re continually listening and evolving,” Durden said. “We are making a very concerted effort to hear the needs of businesses and continually add new features, products and services that help them operate their business plans.”
Today, Walmart Business can help your company with bulk purchases, in-store and online order histories, convenient shipping options, multiuser accounts and budget management tools. In the future, we hope to offer even more resources to help your business grow.
