KaCey Venning leads Helping Empower Youth Inc. (HEY), a nonprofit in westside Atlanta, Georgia, dedicated to supporting black youth and their families facing challenges like poverty. Venning emphasizes building trust with families, a lesson learned firsthand through HEYʼs initiative to assist 25 waterboys off street corners in 2020. Many of them found stable jobs, returned to school, or started their own businesses through HEYʼs support.
Venningʼs approach reflects her upbringing where solutions were sought instead of excuses. This philosophy drives HEYʼs mission to understand and meet the specific needs of those they serve, believing that meeting basic needs paves the way for progress.
Looking ahead, Venning aims to expand HEYʼs leadership program for Black youth in Atlanta, ensuring they inherit a city they can fully enjoy as adults. Her commitment to empowering youth through education and opportunity underscores HEYʼs role in shaping a brighter future for Atlantaʼs black community.
