Glenn Garay, an experienced information security and risk professional, joined Walmart Global Tech following a 24-year career as a Cyberspace Operations Officer in the United States Air Force. Initially focusing on IT service management and delivery in the military, he later shifted to cyber defense and offensive cyberspace planning. Upon retirement, Glenn became a part of Walmart Global Tech through the US Chamber of Commerce's Hiring our Heroes (HoH) Corporate Fellows Program, which connects skilled transitioning service members and their families with employers. At Walmart, Glenn first worked with InfoSec's Decision Science Team, where he contributed to the development and implementation of the company's empirical risk measurement program. This involved utilizing data-driven analysis and modeling to assess tech risk and provide valuable insights for decision-making.
Currently, Glenn serves as the Information Security Lead for Walmart's Eastern Hemisphere markets, including India, China, and Japan. In this role, he works to resolve issues, share best practices, and strategically align the InfoSec strategies of Walmart Global Tech with each market, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and support for business objectives.
With a strong background in IT service management, continuity of operations/disaster recovery, and cyber risk assessment and mitigation, Glenn is passionate about cybersecurity. He thrives in tackling organizational challenges, driving innovation, and building strong teams. Outside of work, he is an active Cub Scout leader for his son, Scouts BSA leader for his daughter, and making up for lost time with his family.
