Erika Roberts
Senior Risk Expert in Information Security at Walmart
Bio

Erika Roberts has been part of Walmart InfoSec since 2021. Despite being relatively new to the field of information security, she has been with Walmart for 15 years working as a pharmacist in-store. Erika's initial role in Infosec was as an analyst on the Technical Controls Assessment Team, where she reviewed the technical controls of various technologies and applications to ensure compliance with Walmart's security policies. Additionally, she supported the Solution Security Plan process by guiding application teams through the process to enable the business to deploy securely and efficiently. Currently, Erika holds the position of Senior Risk Expert for Health and Wellness Infosec.

Erika's journey from pharmacist to Infosec professional was made possible through Walmart's LiveBetterU Program. This program provided her the opportunity to pursue a Computer Science degree, during which she explored cybersecurity courses as electives. Erika discovered numerous parallels between pharmacy and cybersecurity, both fields requiring attention to detail and critical thinking to safeguard patients or secure environments.

Upon graduation, Erika obtained CompTIA Security+ and Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certifications. She further expanded her knowledge while working in Infosec, acquiring GIAC Cloud Security Essentials, Certified Ethical Hacker, and CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner certifications. Erika's educational background includes a Biochemistry degree from the University of Virginia, a Doctorate in Pharmacy from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Computer Science degree from Southern New Hampshire University. In her free time, she enjoys studying various topics, traveling the world, participating in food tours, and watching The Simpsons.
