Frequently asked questions about PTO
Log in to the Global time and Attendance (GTA) Portal, submit a request for time off, and get it approved by your manager. If you take last-minute PTO for a sick day, vacation or other personal reasons, submit your request as soon as possible. Keep in mind that your facility’s attendance policy may apply. Be sure to follow the proper process for reporting unplanned absences. Unplanned absences will be subject to your facility’s specific attendance policy.

If I don’t use all my paid time off, can I get it paid out? As an hourly associate, if you have unused PTO at the end of the plan year, that PTO turns into cash on your first check in February!
So…how does it work?
Your PTO plan year runs from Feb. 1 - Jan. 31.
- Full-time hourly associate: you can carry over up to 80 hours of unused PTO
- Part-time hourly associate: you can carry over up to 48 hours.
The fine print:
- Standard taxes and payroll deductions apply—you can review these by viewing your paystub.

- Note: this can differ in some locations. Check out the hourly PTO policy.
If you leave Walmart and have been an associate for one year or more, you will be paid out the PTO balance for your account on your termination date. Policies and rules in some states and cities may affect how PTO is paid out. Please see the PTO Policy on the WIRE or talk to your personnel associate for more details.
