As Director of Data Security for Walmart, Inc., Justin Simpson spearheads the $20.3M enterprise cryptography team to analyze, process and establish protocols and complex solutions to protect corporation, assets, associates and data integrity for the global enterprise, including all Stores, Clubs and Distribution Centers in over 27 countries with 2.3M associates.
Mr. Simpson is a trailblazer, highly sought-after industry speaker, and servant leader in the STEAM arena. Through his service on the Florida A&M Technology Advisory Board and The University of Alabama Management Information Systems Advisory Board, Simpson has drastically improved the professional trajectory for students and corporations alike. Simpson is a graduate of The University of Alabama with a Bachelor’s in Management Information Systems and holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) with an Entrepreneurship certificate from the University of Arkansas. In 2012 he was recognized as the “Most Promising Engineer” by the Black Data Process Association (BDPA).
Justin is also the CEO of a STEAM Non-Profit, A Little Bit of HOPE (ALBH), where they are focused on building awareness of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) opportunities in alignment with academia and corporate partnership to create equitable wealth opportunities for people of color and women. This fall ALBH partnered with three schools in different states to host STEM focused back to school block parties where they provided backpacks filled with the complete school supplies for over 1,500 students. Under Justin’s leadership ALBH is also partnering with Langston University to create an experiential learning program for their CS department.
In his spare time, Mr. Simpson enjoys watching college football. You can find him in his crimson colors, cheering on his alma mater, and shouting, “Roll Tide!” Outside of football, he is an avid reader of all things finance related. He particularly enjoys the Dave Ramsey podcast, where he derived one of his favorite quotes : “living like no one else, so you can live, give, and thrive like no one else later”.
