From playing a crucial role in transporting goods to Walmart stores, to volunteering with disaster relief mobile kitchens and the Special Olympics truck convoy, Wayne Jaco is in the driver’s seat for Walmart _ and his health. After living with type 2 diabetes since 2023, Wayne turned to his Walmart benefits in July 2025 for help creating lasting, healthy habits at home and on the road.

Wayne, a Walmart Private Fleet Driver from transportation office 6873 in Pageland, SC, actively participates with the voluntary diabetes and metabolic management benefit powered by Twin Health to receive personalized care through wearable devices, like a glucose monitor and smartwatch. This benefit is available under most Walmart medical plans at no cost to participants. Wayne’s data creates a unique AI ˝Digital Twin˝ that replicates his metabolism and provides him daily guidance on food, sleep, activity, stress, and more.

The benefit delivered real impact. Within his first year of engaging with the benefit, Wayne lost 50 pounds, is keeping his blood pressure and cholesterol down, improved his insulin resistance and liver function, and more.

“I’m almost at the point of reversing my type 2 diabetes, and I’m excited for that.” Wayne shares about his progress toward his long-term health goal.

“I’ve been introduced to new foods and am learning to choose options that are good for me,” said Wayne. “I watch my blood sugar after I eat, so I can find what works best for my body.”


He’s also incorporating more movement into his routine to hit his daily steps goal. After the pallets are fully unloaded from his truck at one of his "ambassador stores", he makes it a goal to walk around the store to check in with associates as part of his Driver Ambassador role - helping reinforce the relationship between drivers and store associates. And you’ll find his truck parked the farthest away from truck stop entrances to maximize his steps.



At home, he shares how his positive progress has made a difference, “I feel better and I get compliments. This is the first time in ten years that I was able to rake the yard three times without back pain,” said Wayne.



What does he look forward to most in the future? Living a happy, healthy life with his fiancée, Tiffany; enjoying trips to see his three granddaughters in Florida; and continuing to give back by supporting the communities we serve through volunteer events with Walmart, like an annual cleanup of Victory Junction Camp, a local camp for children with complex medical and physical needs.



Associates and dependents enrolled in the Premier PPO, Saver HSA, Contribution HRA, or Personalized Wellbeing Copay medical plans, aged 18 years and older with type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes, or a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or greater, can access no-cost metabolic management support if they meet Twin Health’s clinical eligibility requirements.
