What is 2 Step Verification?

Our new security measure requires 2 steps to validate you are the correct person accessing your personal information.  The first step is something you know (e.g. your username and password).  The second step is something only you have (e.g. the one-time verification code you receive).  Our enrollment website  allows you to select from one of three options (SMS/text message, voice call, push notification) that best fits your needs.

Examples:

  • An example of 2 Step Verification you may be familiar with is using an ATM.  An ATM requires something you know - your PIN number - and something you have - your ATM card.
  • Many social media tools have 2 Step Verification as well, such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat and Pinterest.

Why 2 Step Verification?

A Verizon debrief suggested that 85% of all breaches would have been prevented through the implementation and use of a multi-factor solution, like 2 Step Verification.  This extra security layer makes it much harder for someone to access your personal information.  2 Step Verification helps keep out the bad guys, even if they have your password, since they would likely not have access to the second step of the security process.  You can choose to have your one-time verification code sent to you via SMS/text message, voice call or push notification.

Enrolling in 2 Step Verification will not only enhance your security protection, but also allow you to access your information from your own personal device anytime, anywhere!
