No joke: That was the scene in Chicago as the three winners of the Walmart Associate Mocktail Challenge celebrated their success in bringing their passion to work and took part in this unique experience. They won by posting their recipes to Instagram and saw the benefit of connecting online.

“The experience made me more open to using social media in my store to promote items,” says Kristal E., a pharmacist at Neighborhood Market 6894 in Apopka, Fla. “I had no idea how much influence a short video and pictures can have.”

For their prize, the winning associates—Kristal; Holly G., an optician at Store 3226, Katy, Texas; and Antonio, Walmart Radio DJ, Home Office—got to travel to Chicago and learned tips from award-winning star mixologists from Cocktail Artist®, a supplier of premium cocktail mixes and bar ingredients available at Walmart. “They taught us everything from how to garnish a drink to using the right type of glass,” says Holly.

Each winner also earned a trophy featuring their likeness and drink name on a Cocktail Artist® bottle label. Their winning mocktails were featured as specialty items on the menu at Chicago’s Celeste restaurant and cocktail bar.

“I feel like I’m ready to run a mocktail bar! We have family and friends coming into town this weekend, so we’ll be sure to have mocktails to go around,” says Antonio.
