Q: Why is it important for people to feel like they can be themselves at work? And how does this affect your leadership style.
A: Having your voice heard and validated can make or break your team. When I was afforded the opportunity to become a club manager, I made a commitment to my team and myself to be present, listen and learn, teach and train, and value differences.
Q: Walmart/Sam’s Club has been very public about its commitment to the LGBTQ community and the Black Lives Matter movement. What does it mean for you as an associate to see your company stand up for what’s right?
A: I couldn’t be prouder to work for a company that doesn’t hide its position. As leaders, we are taking a stance to be on the right side of history. We have a long way to go but this is a great start.
