Certified Sustainable Coffee

Certified Sustainable Private Brand Coffee!

In honor of National Coffee Day, we have a BIG announcement. All coffee sourced for Walmart U.S. private brands is now certified sustainable! What exactly does that mean? Our coffee was grown with care by farmers working to build sustainable livelihoods and thriving communities.

“Sustainability is at the heart of our ongoing mission to do right by people across the Walmart supply chain and across the planet,” said Ryan Isabell, Senior Buying Manager of Coffee & Cocoa.

Here are a few of the amazing associates who’ve traveled all over the world to make this happen!

“A cup of coffee is an important start of the day for many of our customers. However, it is not often that we think about where it comes from or the journey that it made. As we travel to the coffee origins, we’ve learned about the numerous challenges coffee farmers face every day. By making our coffee sustainably sourced, we help farmers to earn a good living from the coffee they grow and take care of their families and the environment.”

“Coffee is a product that so many people use, every day. To make sure we have coffee in the future, we need to ensure that it is produced sustainably, and that the people who grow coffee around the world are taken care of. Walmart’s work to source certified sustainable coffee in its private brands is a great step in increasing customer trust.”

“As a Product Development Manager on this project, my role was to ensure that all our coffee items have the same consistent quality with certified sustainable coffee transition. We worked with internal and external coffee experts/partners to ensure that our customers continue to have highest satisfaction while consuming our Private Brand’s coffee.”

- Prabhat Kumar | Product Development Manager

“Walmart is the largest retailer in the world and with that comes heavily responsibility to make an impact. I’m proud to have been a part of the steps taken towards building sustainable programs. We are living out of purpose in helping the world live better.”
