Retail is changing rapidly and Walmart is transforming its business to serve the changing needs of customers. A successful, well-trained, and engaged workforce is one of the most important ways Walmart will win the future of retail.

We provide educational and training opportunities for everyone in our workforce. Whether our associates need job-related training through our Academies, want to learn a new language or skill with on-demand training or earning a college degree, Walmart has the program and support to help make that a reality.

We are bringing all our education benefit programs together under the new Live Better U banner. Live Better U brings our suite of education benefits together under a modern banner to make it easier for all associates to learn about and access the options designed to help them save money and live better. With more than a million associates, Walmart employs people at every educational level and Live Better U is designed to offer something for everyone:

We are proud to offer associates the opportunity to earn a college degree for just $1/day through our partnership with Guild Education – but Live Better U is much broader than that. It’s about making education accessible, providing the tools to help people be successful and creating a path for our people to go as far in their educational journey as their hard work and talents will take them.

Key Details about Live Better U
  • Associates in the U.S. can access affordable, high-quality associate and bachelor degrees in Business or Supply Chain Management through a partnership with Guild Education.

  • Walmart’s associate education benefit is designed to remove barriers to college enrollment and graduation.

  • Under the program, Walmart will subsidize the cost of higher education, beyond financial aid and an associate contribution equal to $1 a day. Degrees will be offered through the University of Florida, Brandman University and Bellevue University. These schools were selected for their focus on serving working adult learners.

  • Associates can earn college credit for paid training at Walmart Academies. Hundreds of thousands of associates have already undergone skills training.

  • This program makes college more accessible and relevant. We identified universities that focus on working adult learners and have high graduation rates. We are also working with those schools to tailor curriculum to relevant skills for jobs and advancement across retail and other industries, both today and in the future.

  • From day one of entering the program, associates will receive support from a Guild education coach on everything from selecting the appropriate degree to getting credit for prior college and work experience to academic and retention coaching. This type of counseling has been shown to help students complete their degree.

Associates can apply for each program online through the Guild website which can be access from OneWire > Me > My Career > Education Programs or Guild is our third-party partner providing all education benefits under the Live Better U brand.
