The Associate Discount Card is a benefit provided to all Walmart associates. It gives you 10% off general merchandise and Fresh items, with some exceptions. The card, introduced in the ’80s, was something Sam Walton saw as a great way to thank associates for their hard work and help them save money.
How Do You Get Your Card?
Your discount card is sent by mail to your home address on file with personnel. You should receive it around your 91st day of continuous employment.
Where Can You Use the Card?
It can be used in any Walmart store in the U.S. and Puerto Rico and on Walmart.com.

How Do You Use the Card?
At the register, just swipe it in the card reader. To use the card on Walmart.com, you must have a Walmart.com account and register your card to your account. Search for “associate discount” on Walmart.com for details and to register your card.
What If You Lose Your Card?
To get a replacement discount card, report the card lost, stolen, or damaged to your personnel manager and through the Associate Discount page. You can also call Benefits Customer Service at (800) 421-1362 to file a report.
Is Your Family Eligible for the Card?
Spouses and domestic partners of associates not only can use your card—but they also can be issued their own! To request a card for a spouse or domestic partner, visit the Associate Discount page or call Benefits Customer Service at (800) 421-1362.
Unmarried children age 19 and under living in the household and unmarried children age 22 and undergoing to college full time also may use your card. However, children who meet the eligibility guidelines above will not be issued their own card.
What About the Long-Term Service Discount Card?
If you have 20 consecutive years of service with Walmart, you’re eligible for the long-term service discount card upon retirement. If you’re 55 or older with at least 15 consecutive years of service, you qualify upon retirement.
