Q:  What does this mean for these associates as it relates to annual increases?

A:  Here is how annual increases will work for these associates in FY21 (2020).

  • If an associate received a 2% or greater increase moving into the Forklift Merchandising role, they will not be eligible for a general increase in the first quarter of FY21.
  • If an associate was hired or promoted into the Forklift Merchandising role and received the new starting minimum, they will not be eligible for the general increase in the first quarter of FY21.
  • If an associate received less than 2% or no increase moving the Forklift Merchandising role, they will be eligible for a general increase in FY21.

Q: Is this role only full-time or are there part-time roles as well?

A:  This role is only full time.

Q:  Do I have to fill this role with internal candidates first?

A:  Yes. You should first fill this role with interested, current merchandising associates, who have been forklift certified for 90 days, and meet the minimum criteria for moving to a new role.

Q:  When can I post this role externally?

A:  Look at the recommended number of full-time Forklift – Merchandising Associates needed for your club. Once you’ve placed all interested, current merchandising associates, who have been forklift certified for 90 days, and if you’re still under the recommended number of full-time Forklift – Merchandising Associates, you can post the job for external candidates.

Q:  Can current forklift drivers choose to stay in their current role?

A:  Yes, current forklift drivers can stay in their current role and serve as a merchandising associate.

Q:  There is an A.M. and P.M. shift, who works which shift?

A:  Associates that are moving from a current merchandising associate role should keep their current block schedule unless there is a gap in coverage between a.m./p.m.  In the event there is not adequate coverage, adjustments may need to be made based on time with the company.

Q:  Are there additional hours for this new role?

A:  No, there are no additional hours for the role. This role shares hours with the merchandising work group.

Q:  Will posting the position externally cause my club to become overstaffed?

A:  Attempt to fill the position with internal candidates to ensure adequate coverage and then post externally as attrition allows the club to remain at targeted staffing levels.

Q: Is it okay to go over the number of allocated forklift merchandisers for my club?

A:  Yes, as long as you are within your hours for the overall merchandising work group.

Q:  What if associates moving to the Forklift Merchandiser position are already at the $15 minimum?  Are they eligible for an additional increase?

A:  If associates are already at the $15 minimum, there is no additional increase for the Forklift Merchandiser position.

Q: What if I have associates who are in the process of getting their forklift certification or haven’t been certified yet for 90 days?

A:  As our preferred way of staffing, we always want to consider the talent within our clubs that are interested and eligible to fill our open positions.  If there are associates who are pursuing their forklift certification during the time of this change, but have not yet met their 90-day certification requirements, those associates should continue working in their current role until they are 90 days forklift certified. If there is still a need for additional Forklift Merchandising associates at that time, the Club Manager can post and fill the role(s) accordingly.
