We have three clear strategic priorities at Sam’s Club – People, Product and Digital. And, as we’ve shared, this year we’re focusing on the people pillar. To serve our members even better, we know we must continue to invest in the associate experience. We’re committing to retaining and hiring the best associates, providing the right training and tools, ensuring more consistent schedules and a ladder of opportunity inside each club and across our company. Today, we’re taking this another step further.
We’re increasing the starting pay of Team Lead positions to a minimum of $18 an hour. We know these are key leadership roles in our clubs - the pipeline to our management roles – with a core responsibility in maintaining the high service and standards our members deserve.
We are introducing a new Fresh training program that will be required of Club Managers, Assistant Managers, Team Leads and those in a specialist role like Meat Cutter, Baker, Prepared Food Associate and Cake Decorator. We’ve also updated the job descriptions for Fresh Leads to more clearly state the expectations of the position and entice candidates to build their career at Sam’s Club in our Fresh departments.
