Q. What changes are taking place in the club today?
A. We’re moving to four work groups to provide a simpler structure and the opportunity for associates to learn more skills and have greater ownership of their work. We’re going to continue cross-training to equip our associates with a broader set of skills, which will empower them both today and tomorrow. We’re changing our in-club scheduling - and moving to a block schedule for full-time associates- to improve stability for our people.
Q. Why is this change being made?
A. Over the past year, we’ve talked about how we must simplify how we work and change our business to be positioned for the future of retail. One way we’re doing that is by introducing new ways of working as it relates to how we schedule associates’ shifts. Implementing work groups and block scheduling (for full-time associates) will allow for more consistency for our associates and help increase teamwork, while at the same time helping us better serve our members.
Q: What scheduling changes will occur as a result?
A. Based on the availability associates already provided for their schedules and job code today, they’ll be placed into a work group. Each work group will be expected to work across multiple areas of the club with specific days and times each week.
