Talking Points for Clubs That Have Not Made the Overnight Transition

Club Manager to Total Club

  • We are staying laser focused on our strategic pillars of People, Product and Digital.
  • We’re using them as a guide to help us transform how we operate so we can become a place where members and associates can’t imagine their lives without Sam’s Club.
  • We know that any great transformation starts with our people. Our associates make the difference and separate us from the competition.
  • Let me tell you about what we’re doing next within our “People Pillar”:
    • We’re moving to four work groups and streamlining job codes to help associates work as a team to complete tasks and have better ownership of work.  This will include moving overnight associates to days, and they will be included in one of the four work groups.
    • We’re transitioning to a block schedule for full-time associates to improve consistency for our people.
    • We’ll continue skills training to help broaden your skills and prepare you to work across multiple areas of the club.
  • The goal of these changes is to allow our team the opportunities to learn new skills, provide them with more consistent schedules, and ultimately provide better service to our members.
  • Over the next several weeks I’ll be having conversations with each of you to discuss what these changes mean for you.
  • During those conversations I will inform you of your new work group, job codes, and discuss availability and preference for new shifts.
  • These changes are going to set our club up for success for years to come. While I know everyone adapts to change in different ways, I’m confident our team is going to transition well and I’m excited for the future of our team!
