Frequently Asked Questions

General

Q. What changes are taking place in the club today?

A. The Personnel Training Coordinator (PTC) position is going to be eliminated, and the current PTC responsibilities will be assigned to other associates in the club.

 

Q. Why are these changes being made?

A. The purpose of this change is to enable our leaders in supervisory roles to own every aspect of people management in the club and use technology to create efficiencies in how we work by using People Solutions, Workday and other digital tools.

 

Q. How will we know if the change is successful?

A. The Club Support team will be following up with the Market Managers and Club Managers throughout the change to gather feedback and assess the transition.

 

PTC Associate Changes

Q. What is the timeframe for the notification period?

A. It will start Feb. 5, and will continue through March 29.

 

Q. Can the PTC apply and be selected for other open positions?

A. During the notification period, the PTC can apply for any open position in their club or another facility.  

 

Q. What will the PTC do during their notification period?

A. The PTCs should focus on the following activities:

  • Securing a new role within their current club or another facility
  • Assisting in training salaried managers and leads on new ways of working
  • Helping to hire new associates as openings exist

 

Q. Can the PTC choose to leave early and use PTO before the notification period ends and still be eligible for severance?

A. Yes, PTO may be used for time off during the notification period but should not be used to extend the end of the notification period (termination date).

 

Q. If the managers and leads are able to become proficient in their new tasks quickly, what should the PTC do during the remining portion of his/her notification period?

A. They should remain in their current job code and be utilized elsewhere in the club, with no impact to pay, hours or schedule, until the associate transfers to a new position or the notification period ends.

 

Q. If the associate requests to be terminated early and the club does not have a business need for the impacted associate to remain in their current position through the notification period, can the Club Manager request severance?

A. Yes

 

Q. If an associate’s anniversary date falls during the notification period, but they choose to leave before the anniversary date, will that year of service will not be included in the severance calculation? 

A. No, the associate must work through their anniversary for that year of service to count toward severance.

 

Q. What should I do with the Personnel Office in my club once the PTC notification period ends?

A. The Personnel (PTC) office in clubs should remain intact as the location for storing associate personnel files, equipment that is assigned to associates, etc.

 

New Ways of Working

Q. Should anyone other than a team lead or salaried manager be completing any People tasks?

A. No. Only team leads and salaried managers should be completing People tasks in club.

 

Q. How do I know what tasks are assigned to each associate?

A. Review the New Ways of Working section of this toolkit to see a chart with the new task assignments.
