Colin and his suspiciously similar-looking twin Cuthbert may still be battling it out in the courts, but we’re joining the cause where it matters the most by taking up the pledge to bring supermarket caterpillar cakes together to support cancer charities this June.

We’re delighted to announce that 10% of all sales of our Clyde and Frieda caterpillar cakes, will go to our Tickled Pink charity partners Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel! during the month of June as part of our celebration of 25 years of supporting the UK’s leading breast cancer charities.

There’s a unique caterpillar cake for all at Asda and our customers can pick between the rich and chocolate-filled Clyde the Caterpillar Cake and his equally delicious gluten-free sister Frieda, the free-from Caterpillar Cake, both priced at just £5.92.

Supporting the campaign is community champion Gary Anderson from our Chesser store who is a passionate supporter of Tickled Pink and follows in the steps of his late mother Linda who held the same community champion role but sadly passed away from cancer in 2015 after serving for 25 years at the store.

Gary, who has worked at the store for nearly 20 years, took over from Linda while she was being treated and over the last six years has kept up her good work by supporting a series of events to raise awareness and money for Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel! and he’s delighted to see sales of our popular caterpillar cakes supporting such a good cause:

"It's a great thing to do and Tickled Pink is such a good cause. The caterpillar cakes were in the news a few months ago, and I think it’s a great idea to use the cakes as a force for good. It combines two of my favourite things – a nice cake and raising money for Tickled Pink – so what's not to like?"

Jo Warner, our Senior Director for Community adds:

“We jumped at the chance to take part in the #CaterpillarsForCancer movement, supporting Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel! through our Tickled Pink campaign – which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Great value, inclusive cake that raises money for breast cancer charities – that’s what we call a win-win!”

Since 1996, our Tickled Pink campaign has raised a phenomenal £71 million, with every penny being used to fund world-class research, life-changing support services and outreach work to champion regular boob checking behaviour. And, together with Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel!, Tickled Pink is working to help change the future of breast cancer in the UK. Look out for more Tickled Pink news throughout this year as we celebrate 25 years of supporting this amazing campaign!
