Our Stevenage store is an award winner!

We’ve won yet another award to add to our 2020 collection, this time in recognition for innovation at Stevenage store!

We scooped the top prize for Bricks and Mortar Innovation at the 2020 Retail Technology Innovation Hub Innovation (RTIH) Awards.

The awards celebrate retailers who use their physical stores to thrive through innovative technology, even as online shopping continues to grow.

The judging panel were impressed at how many different innovations we have landed in the store in a short space of time and how these have brought exciting new experiences for our customers and simplified tasks for our colleagues. In particular, the introduction of electronic shelf edge labels (eSELs) across the store was highly praised.

One of the judges, Simon Curtis, Sales and Marketing Director of PMC Retail said: “Stevenage is a wonderful blend of innovation, but my personal favourite is the personalised chocolate machine, now that would get me to shop at Asda!”

Louise Bagshaw, Senior Director of Retail Front End and Innovation said: “It’s great to receive recognition for the central Tech team and of course the Stevenage store colleagues led by GSM Neil Baker; it really is a full team effort landing innovation in the store.

"It’s important that our colleagues really believe in the technology and getting them excited about the massive part they play towards our strategy has been key to success for many of our projects.”

She adds: “Colleague and customer engagement is a big part of how we work; as a team we work closely with colleagues and customers to help them embrace the new technology in their store “

Innovation is nothing new to us, it’s in our DNA and the team at Stevenage are helping us to make changes at pace and see the benefits of how technology works together. It’s a great opportunity to test new tools, experiences and technology that will make our colleagues lives easier and enhance the shopping experience for our customers. Want to find out more?
