What kind of background do I need to be an APM?

APM can come from a variety of backgrounds.  We look for majors such as Human/Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Design, Information Systems, or Business. Recent graduates should have no more than 2 years of experience working in fields such as technology, consulting, finance, analytics, marketing and merchandising.

Other than what’s on paper, we love candidates who are hardworking, hungry, intellectually curious, partnership focused, have a voracious appetite to learn, and love e-commerce!

When does the program start?

The APM rotation program will begin in July 2020.

How long is the rotation program?

It is 2 years long with three 8-month rotational assignments.

Where are rotational assignments?

Rotations will be based in the heart of Silicon Valley in our San Bruno or Sunnyvale offices.

How is product management at Walmart different from other companies?

1 out of 4 people in the U.S. purchased from Walmart in the past 12 months.  Walmart serves over 270 million customers every week. Walmart APMs work on products that touch millions. What you build will change the way the world shops.  Being at the intersection of the largest brick and mortar retailer and at the forefront of the ecommerce retailers, you will have the ability to shape the future of commerce.

What will I get to work on?

Walmart APMs work on an exciting array of products for Customer Experience, Supply Chain and the Retail Core Engine.

What kind of mentorship is provided?

We want APMs to have the best support and guidance throughout your Walmart journey. In additional to your rotational managers, you’ll be assigned a Buddy for your day to day, an Executive Mentor for long term career planning, and a Program Coach to help you with everything in between.  Walmart also offers resources such as learning and development training classes and a learning stipend that will help you develop the skills you are interested in.

What is next after the program?

Graduates of the APM rotation program who meet graduate requirements will join a product team within Walmart full-time.

What is the interview process like?

Your resume will be reviewed by the APM Program committee.  If selected, you will be invited to attend an interview circuit either on campus or at our Silicon Valley offices.  Candidate interviews will be from 9/20-10/30. Accepted candidates will be notified of selection by November 15.
